Overlooking the open fields from the loft of her home in Eliot, Maine, Camie Wiles makes each animal in her collection entirely by hand. Inspired by the authenticity of the Amish way, she creates her animals in a minimalist, simplistic style that lends an heirloom quality to each one.

Fern is dressed for an unhurried day in the orchard, wearing gathered bloomers made from Liberty of London floral cotton in a delicate mix of plum, violet, and russet tones. Her blouse is sewn from handloomed ivory cotton—lightly textured with subtle checkwork and soft embroidered dots. A crossbody satchel keeps her tiny findings close at hand (acorns, letters, maybe a fig), and her suede shoes, made from offcuts from a friend’s studio, are tied with frayed silk ribbons.
