A beautiful one-off piece with its own character and style that will surely add personality to your home. Each pouf comes with a filling of cork granules from Southern Portugal.
These stunning and extremely resistant linen and wool fabrics were spun, dyed and woven before being sewn into sacks with impressively beautiful hand stitches.
Some of the older bags are over a hundred years old and all of them were produced before the 1970s. Used at first as utilitarian harvest and storage sacks, they are now considered rare collectables.

Along the northeastern border of Portugal, in the quiet villages of Miranda do Douro, traditional linen cereal sacks were once woven on wooden looms by local women. Made from natural fibers and often decorated with bold colors unique to the Trás-os-Montes region, these bags were an essential part of everyday rural life. Today, many of these textiles remain as beautiful reminders of a fading craft.
Studio Augustin carefully sources these vintage sacks and transforms them into one-of-a-kind cushions and poufs. Each piece preserves the original fabric as much as possible, honoring the work and intention of the women who wove them decades ago. Small details such as hand-stitched seams, loops and visible mends remain part of the design, telling the story of their past life.
Each cushion is filled with natural Portuguese cork, adding comfort while celebrating another traditional material. Every piece is unique, carrying with it the colors, patterns and quiet resilience of the region where it was made.
